anyone who is smart has an account based system on their ftp, like mine. Ftp's are very good for findthing rare things, however for the most part, stick to torrents, because msot if not all of what you'll want are on them.

As this topic in no way discusses electronic devices, I've moved it to geeks are us, because it has more to do with computer software than anything else. I've removed the post talking about getting cracks and stuff, and Miah's post in response to it, but I would like everyone to be careful as well. Cracks, which are alternative means of getting computer software, movies, and songs as well as a bunch of other things without having to pay for them, are not to be discussed on this topic, or anywhere else on the zone for that matter, or it could result in temporary or perminent bans of the accounts of those who discuss them.

I wasn't refering to getting cracks of any sort. I am just simply stating that things that are rare to get anywhere else buying wise even is hard to find. Ftp's are more likely to have these. torrents are not illegal and have nothing to do with illegal content in anyway shape or form. It just so happens that illegal content is put on to torrents. Ftp's are not illegal, torrents are not illegal, so how does this post or statement imply that I said he was looking for things illegal? Maybe he is, but even then I don't know what he wants, so I'm not implying anything. Again, just how people are assuming what I say is not how I said it.

Here's my defense. If, in whatever I said before, I implied that cracks are a good idea, then I apologize. I was actually discouraging going out and looking for such things by pointing out that most people password-protect their sites, so I was basically saying don't bother. It wasn't like I gave a list of places to go for illegal content and said, "here, have fun." That was not fair that people chose to assume the worst about me just because I said that cracks exist. Well, they do. Does that mean I agree with it? I hope not. Or is this some kind of word association thing, like how you can't say bomb on an airplane? You can't say crack? Well, fine. Let me think of a few examples where I can change the context. Hmmm...It's hot in this room, and sweat is running down the CRACK of my ass. Or how about, selling CRACK is not a smart idea. So, if you want to kick me off the zone for a misunderstanding, trust me, it won't break my heart.

Oh, and by the way, there's a whole other topic on torrents somewhere else on the boards, and I don't see you doing anything about that. And that's not to mention the sick shit they say on the "sex addicts annonymous" graffiti board. Granted, that's what it's there for, but still, some people could get offended by that stuff too.

Post 9 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Saturday, 12-Jul-2008 13:00:45

That's true. Their is another board that is all about torrents here somewhere.

Post 10 by Squiggles (Account disabled) on Saturday, 12-Jul-2008 13:13:20

hmmmmm so i guess it is not just me who is getting harrassed by this sort of thing. Again, proving that the admins here and others are stuck in a mindset they need to break and think outside the box here.

Post 11 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Saturday, 12-Jul-2008 15:41:31

You can say that again.

At a risk of breaking up the bitchfest,
Generally when someone asks for ftp sites, they're looking for cracks--the fact that you have to password protect your site tells you something doesn't it?
I'm not pro or anti ftp, but asking for ftp sites on a public place is totally fucking retarded.
You can obviscate the "I was looking for the newest edition of this uncopyrighted material," or what ever, but password protecting generally signifies that there's something to be hidden.

Post 13 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Monday, 14-Jul-2008 9:38:11

That, and I just don't want anyone getting in without me knowing about it. But, i'll agree that asking about it in a public place is really stupid.

Post 14 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Monday, 14-Jul-2008 10:58:43

Yeah, but there was no reason to make a big deal out of it. That may be true, but there was no reason for it to get so blown out of proportion.

Post 15 by Squiggles (Account disabled) on Monday, 14-Jul-2008 15:29:35

post 14 I agree. for posts 12 and 13, keep your heads in your asses it's cool with me. How are you ever going to know what is on a server. It is not always cracks. Most of the time there is freeware out there that is hard to find that some people have. But ok if that is consider cracks then keep thinking that. Creater, you are showing off your ignorance as well as most of the mods on here. But that's right, I'm stupid and dont' know anything. Get a grip people think outside the box. What if big bear wants cracks, that's none of your business so why are you even caring. Asking for ftp sites is fine, it's when people start assuming like you, that there are cracks on them, is when shit gets out of hand. Here I'll post my ftp
ftp://afterburn.homelinux.org
Oh my god it's cracks central. get a grip people. it's password protected and it is not always up. if you want big cracks don't come to me. I have rare stuff but I never said they were cracks. Most of it is not. Of course that light is too bright for some of your guy's eyes.

Post 16 by ¤§¤spike¤§¤ (This site is so "educational") on Tuesday, 15-Jul-2008 8:27:11

lol, at post 15, agreed:
I used to run my ftp server, a while back, I might sometime in the near future.
Did I password protect it, hell yeah.
I did so, not only cause of the stuff that was on it, no, not all of it was illegal, but also because there're people who'll login to anon ftp servers and dump viruses or trojans onto them.
Could someone still get in? Yeah, if they really wanted to.
Agree with the other posts that said that this topic's responses were blown way the hell out of proportion.
